Self-referenced Surface Profilometry

چکیده
INTRODUCTION In optical surface metrology the reference surface is usually self-calibrated against the part under test because the errors in the reference are of the same order as those in the part under test. The self-calibration, or “absolute test”, is typically done by making three interferometric measurements, an initial measurement and then two more with the part under test shifted laterally slightly in orthogonal directions to obtain data sheared between reference and test part. This procedure allows one to recover the topography of both the reference and the test part.

Phase error correction based on Inverse Function Shift Estimation in Phase Shifting Profilometry using a digital video projector
Fringe Pattern Profilometry (FPP) is 3D surface measuring technique based on triangulation. The utilization of digital projection in FPP system introduces significant phase distortion for Phase Shifting Profilometry (PSP), because of the nonlinear response of digital video projectors, which is referred as gamma distortion. Considering that the distorted phase has a stable function for a referen...
متن کاملSelf-referenced spectroscopy using plasmon waveguide resonance biosensor
A plasmon waveguide resonance (PWR) sensor is designed, fabricated, and tested for self-referenced biosensing. The PWR sensor is able to support two different polarizations, TM and TE. The TM polarization has a large sensitivity to variations in the background refractive index while the TE polarization is more sensitive to the surface properties. The ability of the PWR sensor to simultaneously ...
متن کاملLaser profilometry and flash thermography for surface roughness assessment of Pentelic marble
Two non-contact NDT & E (non-destructive testing and evaluation) techniques were employed in the inspection of quarry Pentelic marble samples; surface profilometry and infrared thermography. The samples were processed with different roughness treatments (i.e. 60, 80, 100, 220, 400 and 600 mesh) and were evaluated in the laboratory. Furthermore, different surface cleaning treatments were applied...
متن کاملLongitudinal spatial coherence applied for surface profilometry.
A method of optical coherence profilometry, believed to be new, is demonstrated. This method is based on the spatial, rather than the temporal, coherence phenomenon. Therefore the proposed interferometric system is illuminated by a quasi-monochromatic spatial incoherent source instead of a broadband light source. The surface profile is measured by means of shifting the spatial degree of coheren...
متن کاملEffects of titanium brush on machined and sand-blasted/acid-etched titanium disc using confocal microscopy and contact profilometry.
OBJECTIVE Mechanical techniques, including scaling with metal, plastic, or ultrasonic instruments, rubber cup polishing, air-powder abrasive system and brushing with a conventional or a rotating brush, have been used for the debridement of dental implants. Recently, rotating brushes with titanium bristles (titanium brush) have been introduced for the debridement of implant surface when peri-imp...
